Marketing in 2014
Forget everything you ever learned about marketing. Things are much different today than they were two years ago. If you want the public to know who you are you need to change your thinking about marketing.
If you don't have a good business website your business is in trouble. Here's why:
a. Research indicates you're losing at least 50% of your clients and prospects
b. Research indicates the public uses Google to check out businesses. No website equals no business from that savvy buyer.
c. Google maps are widely used by buyers. No website equals you're not on the map.
d. Research indicates the quality of your website is the single most important factor in convincing people to do business with you.
Anybody can improve the quality of their website. Here's how:
a. Replace the word "I and me" with your name except in direct quotations
b. Replace the words "we and us" with your company name
c. Have pictures of you in your business doing what you do, showing what you sell
d. Add pictures of your employees, associates and affiliates -- preferably doing something they usually do to help clients in your business. Add pictures of clients receiving and doing what you do for them or teach them to do.
e. Obtain a URL for your business and brand that URL. This works best if your URL is your company name. Branding your business and URL both is a powerful marketing tool if you have a professional web site and the proper credentials to run your business.
The public believes what other people say about you. Here's why:
a. Most computer savvy people have been conned by somebody on the Internet
b. Ask yourself: "Do you believe everything you read on the Internet?"
c. If you do, you're on the path to enlightenment about bankruptcy.
d. The truth is the public won't believe what you say about yourself
Get a reputable company to say nice things about you. Here's how:
a. Get serious about your business. Hire an independent company to verify that what your company advertises is true.
b. The best way to do that is to join a professional organization as an Associate or Professional member and use the services of the business verification company used by that association.
c. Why? Because it works or the professional organization would change companies.
This isn't Hard. Just do it and watch your business grow.
